Character Design

Sculpting

I sculpted my character in an oil based clay over a wire armature.

Mold Making and Casting

I casted a plaster mold of the clay body, then registered a wire armature and cast the body in color silicone, with paint in shoes.

Heads

After sculpting the head, I molded it in silicone, then made 2 plastic casts of it. I filed down the mouth on one head, and sculpted a different expression with epoxysculpt. Then I painted both heads with acrylic.

Clothing Fabrication

For her shirt and pants, I created a pattern, then mocked up a sample in muslin, then sewed and fabric glued the final version together.

For her star hat, I first created a wire frame fit to her head. I then cut out fabric for each side and sewed them onto the frame. I filled the hat with stuffing and then glued it closed. I then sewed a cotton fabric to the ends of the hat to work as an elastic band to keep the hat on her head.
